| SG4
Hunting Series (Standard Model)
"The Standard SG4™ model is an excellent skinning tip right out of the box. However, we've designed this model's blade grind to be used as-is, or for the kit builder to modify the final grind and tip to their own specifications, if desired. The variability of this design and the number of grind configurations you can achieve with the SG4 standard model make it perfect for the advanced builder." Our SG4 Standard Model fixed blade was developed to be the highest quality kit knife ever attempted for the fixed blade market. When designing this knife, we wanted to develop the the most blade grind available in a kit for cutting meat and hide ... while still maintain it's toughness, for those who want to convert it to a utility or tactical knife model. If you notice the DEEP hollow grind; this grind was produced to help the SG4 excel when slicing. The grind lines on this knife are very sharp and extremely crisp right out of the box. With a 600 grit satin finish on the blade, the SG4 makes for a an fun to build, superior quality kit that will have a finished blade, as is or after profile modification you can hand rub the blade back to the high satin finish we provide on the initial blade, with little effort. The SG4 Standard Model kit comes with stainless bolsters, precision stainless pins and thong hole tubing, for a complete package. We designed the base handle on this design to be the same size as the blade thickness so that you can leave it as is, taper the tang a bit or skeletonize the tang portion under the scales for varying amounts of weight reduction in the finished piece. The outside of the SG4 is satin scotch bright finished for the precision look needed by makers who sell their kit creations. The blade is made from high grade AUS8 stainless steel. The hardness comes in at 57-59 rc. We feel this is the ideal hardness for ease of sharpening, or prying. We have developed several sample modification line drawings which show alternative bolster and blade configurations for the SG4 Standard. However, these idea drawings are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to modifying this basic blade design. Over time, we're sure that our builders will push the design envelope with the SG4 drop point to show all the unique and interesting ways this design can be configured. The SG4 blade can be modified to make a great looking bowie, spear point, drop point or tanto styled knife with only slight modifications on the maker's part. We also offer these grinds as pre-ground blade patterns. General
