 The
Typhoon™ Precision Balisong KitThe Typhoon™ Balisong was designed by Darrel Ralph to fill the void in the Balisong kit market for a knife that is made BETTER than the existing factory Balisongs available today. The Typhoon™ balisong kit knife is a sandwich style, high precision design. Darrel designed this balisong to exacting tolerances to make for a super high-tech instrument style butterfly knife. The latch on this design is modifiable to Batangas style or Manilla style carry (interchangeable to either handle). This kit can be built for standard use in about 10-30 minutes, depending on the skill level of the kit builder. When assembled, the Typhoon™ balisong will make a fantastic every day carry without any modifications at all. For those who want to add their creative touch to the design, you cannot go wrong with this kit.  The
Typhoon™ sports stainless steel, solid milled construction
handles. These handles weigh and swing between the weight of titanium
handles and the old style heavy stainless steel one-piece handles. We
feel these are JUST RIGHT. The high strength stainless steel handles
are designed to accept maximum modification for the kit builder. The
standard handles are radiused so that roll manipulations can be done
with expert ease.  The
radiusing also provides for a comfortable handle grip in all grip positions.
We suggest file work, engraving, and inlaying
as some upgrade ideas for this kit. The finish on the handles of this
knife are satin finished, so that you start with an excellent pallet
right from the start of your project. The blade and handles are finished to a high, 600-grit satin finish. The hollow grind on the blade is a 12-inch diameter, for a tall, semi-flat bevel. The blade is pre-cryo treated for stress relief and for grain refinement of the steel. This produces a blade that will last a lifetime and will perform when the chips are down. Other blade options will become available for this model in the future. The blade that we chose for this design is modifiable to several other styles of blade. We also offer a grindable training blank that you can build to your own unique specifications. The latch provided with this kit can be modified to other styles or just remain the way it is. The latch is reversible for left or right-handed construction. The hardware on this balisong is fully replaceable and they are hardened for long wear. The back spacer on the Typhoon™ series balisong is satin finished stainless steel. This provides the kit builder yet another pallet for file work and engraving. The back spacer adds just enough weight to the rear of the handle for optimum handle swing and manipulation. General Kit Specifications
