The Extreme Ops HRT Smith & Wesson button-release tactical folder design is a very popular DIY convertible knife*. It is a great manual knife (as shipped), but really works well when converted to automatic. This knife is a top choice of DIY automatic knife makers.

The size is large at 8.75" overall. The manual blade action is very smooth and the well-designed, patented spine safety gives you the secure lockup that you want post-conversion. The partially serrated modern tanto blade is 3.5" inches long, made of 440A stainless steel and is Teflon-coated (black). The aluminum handles are coated and include extra grip inlays. This knife comes stock with a pocket clip and hammer pommel.
