Birch Bark is prized as a knife handle material for its striking contrasts, light weight, and grip characteristics. Native Americans used birch bark to construct strong, waterproof canoes, bowls, and wigwams. Today the bark is used to form a waterproof layer for sod-roofed houses and many decorative objects. It's easily cut, bent and sewn, which has made it a valuable resource since prehistoric times. As a knife handle material, birch bark is excellent.
These birch bark handle squares can be used to form a full stack-handle treatment for a roughly 4.5 inch knife handle area, or included with other stack handle elements, like leather or damagrip handle washers, to create wonderful full handle treatments on custom knives and kits.
