The 2" x 72" "Shredder" sanding belt by Combat Abrasives is a ceramic grain stock removal belt. "Stock removal" is the term used to define the aggressive removal of material from a steel bar to produce the rough shape of a item (in our case, to reveal the rough shape of a knife).
The ceramic grain structure of these sanding belts provides continuous renewal of the most consistent and uniform cutting edges. The nature of ceramic grain allows for faster cutting and cooler stock removal. This ceramic "Shredder" belt is adhered to a J-Weight high grip backing. This version is the 220-grit ceramic "Shredder" sanding belt. This belt is light aggressive and will make easy work of any stock removal project. This belt is will remove stock at a moderate pace when honing in to a final shape. We recommend having multiple grits of the "Shredder" series ceramic sanding belts in your shop to allow for variation in your sanding aggressivness.
