Japanese Samurai first used a Sensei-styled tanto knife design as a slashing and stabbing weapon. The Sensei knife kit's blade design is 11.0 inches in overall length, 0.187 inches in thickness, and features a 6.5 inch blade length. The blade is hollow ground and features a 1.125 inch width. The Sensei's hidden tang handle features (2) 0.187 inch through-holes for handle construction (stainless steel pinstock included). It also comes with matching 416 stainless steel bolsters and bolster-pins.
The Sensei is a top quality knife kit and is a very popular model. The shape of this design lets the blade absorb impacts that would typically break traditional knives. The tanto-style of this popular model serves as an excellent defensive tool, as well. The 0.187 inch thickness of this blade makes the Sensei a good general-purpose knife to carry and use. This version of the Sensei is the combo kit. It comes with the Sensei blade plus Bubinga handle scales and stainless steel pinstock to simplify the completion process.
This is a great project for a weekend knife making session. Spend some quality workshop time with this knife kit and enjoy the fun of custom knife making and customization. Properly built, the Sensei will stand up against most knives on the market today.
